Salisbury, NC-Dr.
Ada M. Fisher, the 2006 NC 12th US Congressional District
Republican candidate was early in the line to vote at approximately 0645
hours today and had to smile shaking her head when the automated voting
machine rejected first the lady in front of her and then her ballot. As
a non-incumbent Fisher notes “It was not enough to have my signs
destroyed, to fail to see paid for commercial ads not run, to endure the
ostracism from multiple sides when the incumbents voting record was
examined or to fight to get non-traditional voters captured by her
campaign; but to have your own vote not accepted by the machine is
pitiful. This automated voting process needs close scrutiny and a hard
copy back up which can be easily tabulated by hand. As a supporter of
the Voting Rights Act which protects voting citizens from such problems,
I believe that every vote counts and every vote must be counted.”
“This has been a race with many frustrations and personal rewards. I
respected the voters, irrespective of party affiliation, enough to go
ask for their votes, put out signs everywhere, visit extensively with
all the counties of the district to let people tell me their issues and
allow me to present my case for their votes. We need a change in the 12th
District and I will continue in my fight for better representation for
us,” said the candidate. “I have many reasons to celebrate today, not
the least of which is Shevin Michael Fisher, my oldest son’s 25th
Birthday. I want the voters to appreciate we still need to Get A Doctor
In The House! I also want to thank everyone for his or her prayers,
support and volunteer efforts. |
